Welcome Back

As we settle into a new school year in Coláiste Chill Mhantáin, we would like to welcome all our students and teachers back to school. We extend a special welcome to our First year students and to the new members of our teaching team. We also wish to congratulate our Leaving Certificate class of 2025 on their fantastic exam results and to wish them well in their future paths. We look forward to a new term and to celebrating the various milestones, achievements and successes of our students on our social media pages, including Instagram and FaceBook, and on the iClass App.

Baltinglass Education Centre

Transition Year students enjoyed an action-packed induction day at Baltinglass Outdoor Adventure Centre on Monday and Tuesday, 8 and 9 September. They challenged themselves with archery, tested their courage on the zip line, and worked together, kayaking on the water. It was a great opportunity to build teamwork, try new activities and make lasting memories at the start of the TY journey. All came away with smiles and great memories.

First Year Walk – Glendalough

On Friday, 5 September, the early morning rain cleared for what proved to be a beautiful day for the First Year walk in Glendalough. The walk began at the Visitor Centre and followed the Green Road, revealing many beautiful views including the monastic site and upper lake. This annual bonding trip was enjoyed thoroughly by students, teachers and mentors and we would like to commend all who took part for their positivity and engagement throughout the day. Thanks to all involved.

Holocaust Education Trust's Mary Elmes Prize

During the summer months, one of our Sixth Year Religion groups took part in the Holocaust Education Trust's Mary Elmes Prize for Holocaust Studies and CCM is delighted to announce that the group was awarded 3rd place in the music category. Layla O'Connor, Lily Finn Roche, Matthew Kavanagh, Harry Battams, Jacob Murtagh and Shane Ford O'Brien worked together to write a song 'Lost Light' and recorded it before breaking up for the summer. We are delighted with their excellent achievement. U19 Irish Wolfhounds
Also during the summer break, Fifth Year student, Toby Keating, was selected to represent the U19 Irish Wolfhounds, who are the U19 squad competing internationally for Ireland. He made his debut against the Pennsylvanian side, Kiski School (a prep school in America, knowing for their elite American football programme.) While the Irish side struggled on the night, Toby played well, stopping the players he defended from ever receiving a completed pass. He also had an exceptional tackle of a Kiski player who would go on to score three touchdowns later in the game.

We all look forward to seeing more from Toby as his American Football career grows.
