Staff Coffee Morning Fundraiser

In support of LauraLynn, a staff coffee morning took place on Thursday, 30 April, and we are so grateful for all the donations of baked treats which helped make it a success. To add a little extra excitement, and to thank everyone on the staff for their ongoing support of this year's fundraiser, whether in kind, time, raffle tickets, joker guess entries or any support and awareness, all staff names will be entered into a lucky draw, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs including;

· A family camping pass to the Kaleidoscope Music Festival

· A family pass to Beyond the Trees, Avondale

With the help of the staff coffee morning, which raised over €500, we can make our donation to this year’s cause, LauraLynn, even more magical and help change even more lives. Thank you all for your generosity and support.

Festival of Nations Wednesday, 13 May

We are delighted to announce that this year we will once again be hosting our Annual Festival of Nations, celebrating the diversity within our school community.

Any student or staff member who would like to take part are warmly invited to share aspects of their heritage, culture, or a country they or their immediate family are from. The festival is an opportunity to showcase, learn about, celebrate, and enjoy the rich diversity in our school.

Students may choose to present displays on topics such as food, music, maps, flags, traditions, traditional dress, national animals or plants, and more.

We look forward to another vibrant and enjoyable Festival of Nations.

Many thanks for your support.

Lourdes Fundraising

The students travelling to Lourdes in September spent last weekend fundraising for their volunteer trip. Toby Keating, Finn Tierney, Abbie Mai Delaney, Amy Doyle and Isabella Kenny have been quietly fundraising since they interviewed, but this weekend allowed them to step in front of a larger crowd.

They held a church gate collection outside St Patricks Church after this weekend's masses.

Thank you to Fr Aquinas Duffy and the entire church community for their generous donations. It was wonderful to chat to parishioners who have been to Lourdes before and happily shared their experiences.

The students are planning a few more fundraising initiatives between now and the end of the school year and we wish them every success.

Fifth Year Visual Studies Trip

Fifth year Art students travelled to Dublin on Friday, 24 April, for their Visual Studies trip. They visited the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology, where they saw artefacts from the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Age, showing how artistic designs evolved from geometric shapes to zoomorphic motifs. The group then went to the National Gallery of Ireland, where they explored the Realist and Impressionist works, they’ve been studying, including Monet's expressive brushwork. This trip is a valuable experience for their Visual Studies exam next year.

Transition Year Talk – Ulster University

On Friday, 24 April, Transition Year students attended an informative presentation delivered by Conán Meehan from Ulster University. The presentation provided students with an overview of Ulster University, including the locations of its three campuses and the wide range of undergraduate courses available. Conán also outlined the application process, course entry requirements, course fees, and highlighted that First year students are guaranteed university accommodation. The session offered students valuable insight into studying at Ulster University and helped broaden their awareness of post-leaving certificate options as they begin to explore future pathways.

First Year Basketball

The team travelled to Fermoy for a basketball blitz, where both games formed part of a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final group, with only the top team progressing.

In the opening game, we faced Wexford CBS. The lads showed tremendous heart throughout, playing with great intensity, determination, and skill. Despite a strong performance, we were ultimately defeated by 10 points. It was an excellent display from all involved.

In the second game, we came up against Coláiste an Chraoibhín. They proved to be a very strong side and are likely contenders at All-Ireland level. While we lost by 15 points, the effort and commitment from the entire squad could not be faulted. Every player contributed, with all members of the panel getting valuable game time and playing their part.

The lads have done themselves extremely proud. It has been a fantastic year for the group, and there is no doubt they have a bright future ahead.

First Year Wicklow Semi-Final

On Wednesday, 29 April, First year boys played the Wicklow semi-final against St Kevin’s of Dunlavin in a highly entertaining quality game. The visitors started the game the stronger racing into a 0-4 to no score lead. The lads eventually grew into the game with bursting runs from Fionn Fitzgerald and Aaron Kelly resulting in the latter being fouled for a penalty and the former expertly tucking it away. CCM then controlled proceedings with great defending from the backs with Zach, Ben and Jack making crucial tackles and interceptions. Daire made a couple of great saves while Aaron, Max, Luke and Ronan cut open the Dunlavin defence running the other way with some slick passing by Eoghan and Ollie. At half time we held a 1-point lead with goals from Aaron and Noah.

The lads started off the second half strongly as Billy had mitigated the impact of their main player in midfield and, from there, the rest of the team flourished as we kicked on to build a 2-score lead with points from Ronan and Aaron and a nice finish from Noah. However, we lost a big influence in Eoghan Coffey who injured his wrist while bravely blocking a ball and wish him a speedy recovery. This seemed to stun the lads as Dunlavin got back into the game to eventually lead by 2 with minutes remaining.

The lads showed great heart with expert pressure from all especially Alfie, Fionn and Max to score and then make the Dunlavin player over-carry with the last action of the game, which Ronan stepped up and calmly slotted the equalising free to level it 4-10 to 3-13. Extra time, however, had taken its toll on both teams and any score could prove to be the winner and that’s exactly what happened as Dunlavin scored a goal from the second half of extra time throw in to win 1-1 to 0-1 in extra time and 4-14 to 4-11 on a final score. Callum Armstrong injured his shoulder while bravely blocking a goal bound shot near the end of the game and we wish him a speedy recovery also.

The lads showed great heart and passion to come back and no doubt will be competing in a Wicklow final soon. Next Tuesday they have their South Leinster final to collect some silverware to end the year.
