Welcome Back
As we settle into a new school year in Coláiste Chill Mhantáin, we would like to welcome all our students and teachers back to school. We extend a special welcome to our First year students and to the new members of our teaching team. We also wish to congratulate our Leaving Certificate class of 2026 on their fantastic exam results and to wish them well in their future paths. We look forward to a new term and to celebrating the various milestones, achievements and successes of our students on our various social media, including Instagram and FaceBook, and on the iClass App.
Senior Prefect Team
Senior Prefects provide an important liaison between students, teachers and school management. They demonstrate the qualities of leadership, teamwork and responsibility that reflect the ethos of the school. We would like to wish our Senior Prefect Team of 2026-27 every success this year. We particularly wish our Head Boy, Michael Bunce, and Head Girl, Caoimhe Lawlor, well in their new role as ambassadors for the school.

Baltinglass Education Centre
All Transition Year students travelled to Baltinglass during this week for their first action-packed trip of the year. They challenged themselves with archery, tested their courage on the zip line, worked together, kayaking on the water, and climbed to the top of the rock-climbing tower.

It was a great opportunity to build teamwork, try new activities and make lasting memories at the start of the TY journey. All came away with smiles and great memories and the staff were full of compliments for each group’s enthusiasm and behaviour.

First Year Walk – Glendalough
On Friday, 11 September, the early morning promised a beautiful day for the First Year walk in Glendalough. The walk began at the Visitor Centre and followed the Green Road, revealing many beautiful views including the monastic site and upper lake. This annual bonding trip was enjoyed thoroughly by students, teachers and mentors and we would like to commend all who took part for their positivity and engagement throughout the day. Thanks to all involved.
World Juniors Ultimate Frisbee Championships
This year, seven CCM students travelled to represent Ireland at the World Juniors’ Ultimate Championships in Logrona, Spain, where they played nine games against some of the best U20 players in the world.
Finn Tierney was competing in the men's division and it was a very successful campaign, seeing three international wins and a final place of 17th in the world. Finn himself scored a goal in one of the games.
The mixed team had CCM students, Caitlin O'Connor, Bhailie and Arro Thomson, Mya Crean Dunne, Samuel Adekunle and Max Coffey. Bhailie was one of the captains for the week. While the team didn't manage to bring home any wins, top scorer for the team was Samuel Adekunle, with further assists/scores from Bhailie, Arro, Caitlin and Mya.
At all frisbee tournaments, as the sport is largely self-referred with advisors, each team is awarded a 'spirit' grade which relates to fair play and sportsmanship. We are delighted to announce that the Irish Mixed team was awarded the World Spirit trophy, making them the most spirited team in the world this year. This is such an honour for our students, and we are really proud of their achievements.
