Mid-Term Break
The school will be closed until Monday, 23 February, for mid-term break. We wish our management, teachers, parents and students, especially those who have just completed their mocks, a lovely break and we look forward to a busy and productive term ahead.
TY Work Experience
Well done to the students who were involved in Work Experience this week, 9-13 February. This is a really important interaction and helps build links with employers while providing an important opportunity for students to gain a variety of valuable skills to prepare them for the world of work. Each participant kept a detailed diary of their daily experiences which will be submitted on their return to their Career Guidance teacher.
First Year Basketball vs Avondale CC
CCM faced Avondale Community College on Wednesday, 11 February. In the first quarter, CCM struggled against Avondale’s height advantage, and the opposition took an early lead, scoring four points. In the second quarter, CCM responded with some crucial scores thanks to Dylan, Robert, and Jack, keeping the game competitive. CCM continued to work hard in the third quarter, but Avondale managed to maintain their lead.
In the fourth quarter, things looked difficult for CCM as Avondale stretched their advantage to four points. However, CCM refused to give up. Team spirits remained high, and with excellent ball skills from Robert, Alejandro, and Jack, combined with superb rebounding from Dáire, the team slowly fought their way back. CCM completed a dramatic comeback to win the game 12–11.

Second Year Basketball vs Avondale CC
On the same day, Avondale started strongly against CCM Second year team in the first quarter, dominating the rebounds and scoring eight points. CCM created some good opportunities but struggled to convert their chances. The quarter ended 8–2 in favour of Avondale.
Both teams exchanged points steadily in the middle of the game, with CCM fighting hard to close the gap and level the score heading into the final quarter. The last quarter was tightly contested, with both sides battling hard for rebounds and possession. The score was locked at 24–24 in the closing moments until Braxton O’Brien stepped up and scored the winning basket, sealing a dramatic victory for CCM.
