JCSP Summer Celebration and Awards Ceremony
On Friday, 8 May, the JCSP Summer Celebration and Awards Ceremony took place in the school Library in Colaiste Chill Mhantain. The awards were given to JCSP students for achievement in both Literacy and Numeracy in all Junior Cycle classes. All awards were nominated by subject teachers; a total of 40 awards were given to students in all three year groups. The award reflected achievements by students as they prepare for their Junior Cycle. They all received a €20 voucher. Entertainment on the day was provided by well-known storyteller Niall De Burca, one of Irelands best storytellers who was fantastic at engaging with the students and highlighting their huge achievements in the JCSP program in a fun and enjoyable way on their Junior Cycle journey. After each storytelling session, Niall kindly presented each award winner with their awards for their excellent work throughout the year in their subject area.
This year there was a significant number of parents in attendance which added to the occasion. The final part of the Celebration was the presentation of Certificates of Completion of the Junior Certificate Schools Program to all 30 Third year students. These certificates reflect all the key areas of achievement for each student in all their Junior Cycle subjects. The Junior Cycle School’s Program is a tremendous support to students who require it on their Junior Cycle journey. Supports include additional resources across a wide range of subjects, student profiling by teachers throughout the year to monitor progress, individual subject initiatives promoting achievement and, also, Literacy and Numeracy awards at both the Christmas and Summer Celebrations. The continuing support of teachers in these key areas is much appreciated by all the students who benefit hugely in a wide variety of areas, socially and academically.

Festival of Nations
On Wednesday, 13 May, students from First to Sixth Year came together for our fifth annual Festival of Nations! 🌍✨
Students created vibrant stalls showcasing artefacts from their cultures and heritage, including traditional clothing, currency, books in different languages, and much more.
They also taught visitors tongue twisters and phrases in their native languages — with our First year students bravely giving new languages a try! 🗣️
This year, we proudly celebrated fourteen different countries and heritages, with over 30 students taking part.
Visitors were also treated to an incredible variety of homemade dishes and baked goods, generously prepared by students and their families. From Moroccan lamb tagine and French croissants to Filipino ube cake, traditional Czech sweets, and a selection of South African treats, there was something for everyone to enjoy! 🍽️
A huge well done and thank you to all the students and families who helped make Festival of Nations 2026 such a special celebration of culture, community, and diversity.

First Year Hurling Final
The First year hurlers faced a strong Marist College Athlone side in the final at DCU Sports Complex on Friday, 15 May. Playing against a difficult breeze in the opening half, our lads got off to a slow start but showed great improvement as the game went on. At halftime, we trailed by five points.
With the wind in our favour in the second half, the lads got a better hand on the ball and added some excellent scores to the board, but Marist College proved too strong on the day.
There were standout performances from Paddy Merrigan and Kaden Kavanagh, while the entire panel showed tremendous work rate and determination throughout the game.
It has been a fantastic year for our First year hurlers, and there is a very bright future ahead for this talented group of players.
