Graduation 2026
Thank you to everyone and, in particular, to Ms Hosp, who contributed to the Graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026 on Wednesday, 20 May. The list is far and wide, from booklet, staging, music, awards, rehearsing, acknowledgments to photographs and refreshments, and all this work produced a lovely occasion for the students and their families, which is really what it is all about.
The school community came together to celebrate the experiences and achievements of our Sixth year students in what was a beautiful evening of readings, reflections, music and speeches. There was an array of talents from both students and staff on show which contributed so much to what was a joyous occasion for all.
We wish the 2026 Class success in their exams and in their future life paths.
TY Morning of Celebration
Thank you to all who helped to coordinate the morning of celebration on Thursday, 21 May, for our TY students. The choice of presentations, music, song and dance all created a lovely atmosphere on the night, and it was a wonderful showcase of student participation and teacher innovation. We all experienced a real flavour of the activities that the students enjoyed and we also recognised those students who embraced TY to its fullest. We done to everyone and congratulation on a very successful programme.
The culmination of the night saw each student presented with a folder of certificates earned during the year. The students were also presented with medals for completing the Gaisce Bronze Award.
It was a lovely send-off for the students on their holidays and we hope that this exposure to so many opportunities will serve them well as they move into Fifth Year.
Farmers’ Market
On Wednesday, 20 May, the school community celebrated its very first Farmers Market, showcasing a wonderful harvest of organic vegetables and seeds grown in the school’s very own polytunnel. Students, parents, teachers and community members gathered to share in the produce and celebrate the hard work that has taken place throughout the year. The market featured fresh organic vegetables and seeds, which were generously shared with students and members of the wider school community. The project highlighted the importance of sustainability, healthy eating and teamwork, while giving students hands-on experience in growing and caring for plants from seed to harvest. A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in the planting, nurturing, watering, harvesting and sharing of the produce over the past year. Special recognition goes to the dedicated student, parent and teacher volunteers whose commitment made the project such a success. In particular, heartfelt thanks and congratulations are extended to Ms Garde for her outstanding work and enthusiasm in leading and supporting the initiative.
Well done to all involved in making CCM’s first Farmers Market such a memorable and inspiring event.
Lourdes Fundraiser
The Lourdes volunteers baked lots of sweets and savoury treats for the staff room on Wednesday, 20 May. There was a huge spread, with something for everyone. Thank you so much to the entire staff for their generous donations.
Mary Elmes Prize
Justin Ivanet's trophy arrived to the school on Friday, 22 May. Well done to Justin who was 1st place winner of the Mary Elmes prize, a national competition for Holocaust remembrance.
EPAS Europe Day Celebrations
The EPAS Junior Ambassadors planned, organised and ran a very successful EU themed quiz for all TY students last Friday, 22 May, as part of the Europe Day celebrations. Well done to the winning team who were each given a voucher for Centra. A whole school poster competition also took place and students were invited to submit work on the themes of Unity in Europe or Mental Health. The committee were delighted with the number of entries received and the standard of the work, making it very hard to choose just one Junior and one Senior winner.
A sincere thank you to all the teachers and students who supported the EPAS Ambassadors and participated in the celebrations.
Artwork for the Polytunnel
The Art Department took part in a cross-curricular, whole school initiative this term, once their JC art projects were complete, creating artwork for the Polytunnel, with the theme of Sustainability and the Environment.
Students from Ms Kavanagh’s Third year art class restored some old slates and the Community Garden signage, turning them into stunning works of art, which are now on exhibit at the Polytunnel. All students in the class were involved and displayed incredible teamwork and project management, from design proposals to development, cleaning and restoration, preparation of materials and the final curation and hanging of artwork.
The work is on show now, on the polytunnel fencing and we encourage everyone to go and enjoy!
TY Trip to Paris
Transition Year students and teachers continue to enjoy the sights of Paris and are heading to Disneyland today for some fun and excitement. All pictures on Facebook tomorrow!
Leinster Schools Track and field championships
A big congratulations to Toby Keating and Summer Fitzsimons who competed at the Leinster Schools Track and field championships in Tullamore. Toby secured a top 10 in the Senior Boys’ shot put, followed by a great run by Summer Fitzsimons in the Inter Girls’ 3km with a 6th place finish.
Leinster Hurdling
Congratulations to Charlie Seery Frier, winning gold in the Junior Boys short hurdles and a strong 2nd place finish in the 200m, taking silver at the Leinster Schools Track and Field championships in Tullamore. This is a great achievement. Leinster schools is the most competitive school athletics event in the province featuring top athletes from all around Leinster.
The top two athletes qualify to compete at the National Championships in less than two weeks' time. Charlie has qualified to represent CCM in both events! We wish Charlie the best of luck at the National Championships. ☘️
