Well done to the students who received their results today. Congratulations on your achievements which will offer you a solid foundation in senior cycle.
TY Heritage Trail
On Tuesday, 30 October, TY1 were the first of the TY groups to participate in the Heritage Trail. A fantastic way to learn about the local area and get their 10,000 steps in on a beautiful day. Well done to all involved!

The Big Dig
First year students were given the opportunity to become archaeologists at school on Monday and Tuesday, 29 & 30 September. Students demonstrated their impressive historical knowledge from class showing off their understanding of artefacts, how archaeologists work and the tools they use. Their excavation was of a Viking house and some of their discoveries included axe heads, horse and goat skulls, spoons, swords and pieces of jewellery. After a discussion on the artefacts they had found, they determined the people were warriors and farmers who were wealthy.
The students were very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and willing to get stuck in and dig for artefacts. Well done to all involved.

Leaving Certificate Geography Fieldtrip
The Leaving Certificate Geography fieldtrip took place on Thursday, 2 October, at Glendalough. The class enjoyed excellent weather and ideal conditions to collect data on river processes which forms the basis for their Leaving Certificate projects this year. It was an enjoyable day, and the students had first-hand experience of river processes and gathered the all-important data in the wonderful environment of Glendalough right on our doorstep.

TY Trip to AvCon 2025 - (Careers in the Aviation Industry)
On Thursday, 2 October, TY2 and TY4, attended the 'AvCon Future of Aviation event' hosted by the Air Corps at their Dublin base in Baldonnel. It is Ireland’s largest Aviation and Aerospace careers event. The event was held to educate and inspire the next generation of aviation enthusiasts on how to apply for a career in the area of aviation and engineering. The event is geared towards secondary school students and young adults with representatives present such as Aer Lingus, Ryanair, National Flight Centre, The Irish Air Corps, The Coast Guard and TU Dublin to name a few.
The TY students had the opportunity to engage with all the event exhibitors to discuss careers they might be interested in and have any questions answered. Guest speakers included an aircraft maintenance and engineering apprentice, pilots (plane and helicopter), cabin crew, sustainability and climate change ambassador and aviation medicine examiner. It was a very informative event and one the students thoroughly enjoyed.
Attendance Strategy 2025-26
As part of our focus on positive attendance CCM ran an initiative where by all students who had perfect attendance last week were placed into a raffle; one student from each year group was drawn from the pot and the winning students are pictured with Mr Guinan, Deputy Principal. Well done to Eden Philipson, First year, CJ Armstrong, Second year , Ellie Barcoe, Third year , Joel Jojo, TY, Ewan Meyer, Fifth year and Peter McKenna, Sixth year. Our school continues to have positive attendance trends and we are very aware that this positive outcome could not occur without the support of parents and our pastoral care team.

Macbeth Trip
On Tuesday, 7 October, the Sixth year higher level English classes visited the Clasac Theatre in Clontarf to watch their studied play Macbeth. It was a great production with an interactive workshop to conclude the afternoon. A great day was had by all. Thanks to the English department for arranging this opportunity.

Junior Rugby
CCM Juniors 43 - DLS Bagenalstown 0
The Junior rugby team started their league campaign with a strong performance at home to DLS Bagenalstown last week. In a very tight first half, CCM defended really well creating a number of turnovers allowing Alex Healy to get the team on the front foot and in control on the scoreboard leading 19 - 0 at half time.
Bagenalstown had the better of the early stages of the second half but, again, the CCM defence proved the difference. Alex McKenna, Captain Luke Connolly, Adam Armstrong and Josh Callery dominated in the forwards creating space for the backs to find space scoring a number of excellent team tries to close out the game.
Girls’ Basketball
🏀CCM 45 - EGS 9🏀
Super well done to the Coláiste Chill Mhantáin Girls’ Basketball team who played brilliantly on Monday, 29 September. A special mention to Mya Crean Dunne, Kayla Kearney, Aoife Lane and Summer Fitzsimons. Hopefully we will keep up the momentum!

Senior Hurling
CCM had a good win against Bunclody/Enniscorthy in the first round of South Leinster senior hurling. The lads ran up a high score from the start with great scores from Harry Butler, Jack O’ Leary and Senan Shorthall. Senan O’Donovan worked hard in midfield while John Lynch and Joe Culleton were outstanding in the backs. There was big gap between the teams at half time and although the Wexford side managed get three goals in the second half, the game ended in a comprehensive win for CCM 8-15 to 4-4.
