First Years enjoyed a fantastic immersion in the world of archaeology with the Big Dig workshop, when they got the chance to find and excavate a range of artefacts as well as human and animal remains! Among the finds were Viking longswords, axes, skulls, meat hooks and an ancient frying pan. The students also learned about the work of preserving the find and discovering how old the object is. There was a lot of enthusiastic digging!
